About Me

Hi, I’m Hufsa Ahmad, LCSW.

I'm a licensed therapist who helps high-achieving professionals overcome imposter syndrome, substance use, and mental health challenges.

“I’m not good enough.”
“I just want to be normal.”
“My drinking is affecting my relationships.”

You’ve probably thought these things if you feel you have imposter syndrome, burnout, workplace trauma, severe mental illness, and/or substance use.

And you should also know:

You are not alone.

You’re not the only one struggling.

There is help for you – yes, you, specifically. And no, you’re not too difficult a case.

You can get through this.

I have the skills, knowledge, and experience to help you see the full picture, and not just the worst parts.

Hufsa Ahmad, LCSW is a speaker, therapist, consultant, writer, and comedian.

The valedictorian who felt like an imposter

(That's me.)

I was the valedictorian who got into a top engineering college – only to feel like an imposter. I faced burnout in the tech field and brutal challenges in the workforce. I was neurodivergent, and didn’t find out until I was an adult. I struggled with mental health challenges and periods of disability.

Despite that, I’m now a renowned therapist, award-winning advocate, internationally touring standup comedian and writer, and 2-time TEDx speaker who has inspired hundreds of thousands of people with my story of resilience.

I help people overcome imposter syndrome, trauma, substance use problems, and severe mental illness (mental health conditions).

Because I don’t just teach it – I’ve lived it. And I know it works – because I practice what I preach.

Everything I discuss is supported by science, clinical work, and real-world experience.

I’m warm, compassionate, and light-hearted.

I’m curious, adaptive, and insightful.

I move at your pace, while also challenging you to see things differently.

And my approach has helped people who have been in therapy for years reach their goals in just a few months.

My therapy approach: short-term, effective healing rooted in EMDR and real-life experience

(That's me.)

I did the whole therapy thing for over a decade. A decade!

I tried to talk my way through my problems, insecurities, negative beliefs about myself, and the world.

It tremendously helped me get through some tough times.  Having that consistent, supportive, trustworthy figure offered me hope and comfort. I would not be where I am without it.

And then I tried a short-term therapy known as EMDR therapy

I made more progress in 3 sessions than in years of therapy.

Specifically, in the underlying feelings of shame, doubt, and feeling like an imposter, that no amount of talk therapy, CBT, or DBT could get rid of (all of which I am trained in, too!).

After the first session, I no longer felt upset, triggered, or demeaned when I thought of traumatic childhood memories.

After the second session, I understood why I have this – very illogical – feeling of not being good enough.

After the third session, I started to reprocess that negative belief and see that actually, not only am I good enough, I’m pretty freaking awesome. (Note: I would use another word if I could…)

Sometimes things are lodged in our unconscious minds, and we can’t think our way out of them.

So that’s why I shifted to become specialized in highly efficient research-supported interventions, which:

  • Help you better understand yourself
  • Counter the effects of stress and burnout
  • Feel more self-compassionate and empowered
  • Stop or reduce unhealthy habits and addictions
  • Learn concrete strategies to manage future challenges

Therapy isn’t just me sitting there listening to you.

And it’s not me just telling you what to do.

It’s an investment where we work together to resolve the underlying issues…so you can spend your time and money elsewhere.
